📌 Updated 2 November 2026 — Xiaomi has clarified its schedule: the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will launch internationally as early as this November, going up against the Oppo Find X10 and Vivo X500 ranges just launched outside China. Ahead of the full announcement, a first retailer listing in Europe shows a battery reduced to 7,050 mAh on the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max (compared to 8,500 mAh in China), but confirms that 100 W wired charging is retained, whereas the 18 Pro drops to 6,000 mAh and 90 W. The Pro Max is, however, reportedly set to skip India. Exact dates and local prices are still awaited.

Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max and the Xiaomi 18 Pro in Beijing on 23 September. The Pro Max tops the series: the same camera block as its smaller sibling, but a bigger display, a bigger battery, a more powerful chip and fuller sound. It succeeds the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.

A 6.9-inch display that shields itself from prying eyes

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max gets a flat 6.9-inch AMOLED display at 2,624 × 1,208 pixels, framed by 0.99 mm bezels, identical on all four sides. It is the series’ Super Pixel 2.0 panel, with the new M11 generation of light-emitting materials: a new green material that improves efficiency by 20%, a full red, green and blue subpixel layout, up to 4,000 nits in some conditions, 1 nit at minimum, a 1 to 120 Hz refresh rate and the BT.2020 colour space. It is protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0.

Like the 18 Pro, the Pro Max has a hardware privacy mode: when on, it hides the screen from people beside you while keeping a sharp image head-on. It can be reserved for specific apps, right down to their notifications, given rules by voice through the Super Xiao AI assistant, or switched on for the whole phone with one press of a customisable AI key.

The question over the rear screen is settled: the Pro Max does have one, and it is even bigger than the 18 Pro’s. It measures 2.9 inches, at 976 × 596 pixels, 120 Hz and up to 4,000 nits. It hosts more than 100 app cards at launch, from tools to mini-games, AI-generated wallpapers made from a photo, and lets you take selfies with the main camera.

The world’s first phone with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max debuts the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the most powerful version of Qualcomm’s new chip, built on 2 nm with two prime cores at 5 GHz. The CPU is the same as the 18 Pro’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6; the Extreme stands apart through its graphics, its AI-dedicated cores and its video. We explain what separates the two chips in a dedicated article.

Xiaomi pairs it with a new cooling system and chip packaging designed to shed heat better. In its own tests, on a large open-world game at maximum settings, the Pro Max holds close to 60 frames per second on average for an hour, with a peak temperature of 43.6 °C. RAM is LPDDR5X, 12 or 16 GB, and storage is UFS 4.1, from 256 GB to 1 TB.
