OnePlus<\/a> has officially unveiled its new flagship, the OnePlus 15, at a launch event in China. This model doesn’t just pack the most powerful Android chip of the moment; it also introduces a record-breaking refresh rate and a huge battery. More than that, it marks a major strategic turning point: it’s the first OnePlus phone in years to drop the famous Hasselblad partnership in favour of a new in-house technology, \u00ab\u00a0LUMO Imaging\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 165Hz display steals the show<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

OnePlus spent a long time on the display, and with good reason: the brand claims a world first. The OnePlus 15 is the first smartphone to offer a refresh rate of 165Hz at 1.5K resolution<\/strong>. According to the company, this advance improves response time by 10 milliseconds and display speed by 27%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This panel, dubbed the third-generation \u00ab\u00a0Oriental Screen\u00a0\u00bb, was developed in collaboration with BOE. It is clearly built for gaming and supports native 165fps in popular titles such as Call of Duty Mobile<\/em> and League of Legends Mobile<\/em>. Beyond raw performance, the screen also targets eye comfort. It features a 1-nit \u00ab\u00a0true dark\u00a0\u00bb mode, a hardware-level blue light filter and very low flicker, which earned it the new \u00ab\u00a0Little Gold Label\u00a0\u00bb certification in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A no-compromise gaming platform<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the device sits, as expected, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5<\/strong>. To make the most of that power, OnePlus has developed the \u00ab\u00a0Fengchi Gaming Core\u00a0\u00bb, a system optimisation engine designed to hold a stable 165fps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gaming experience is also boosted by some unexpected hardware additions. OnePlus has fitted a gyroscope with the same specifications as PS5 controllers, for example. With a 200Hz sampling rate, it is said to improve aiming accuracy by 77%. On the connectivity side, a new \u00ab\u00a0G2 esports\u00a0\u00bb network chip promises to cut latency by up to 65% when the network is congested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cooling and battery life: record figures<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

All that power inevitably generates heat. To deal with it, the OnePlus 15 introduces a \u00ab\u00a0Glacier Cooling System\u00a0\u00bb. It relies on an ultra-thin steel vapour chamber that increases the cooling area by 43%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The real technical feat, however, lies in the battery. The OnePlus 15 carries a massive 7,300 mAh<\/strong> cell. It supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The figures announced by the brand are impressive: 5 minutes of charging is said to be enough for 6 hours of video playback. According to its real-world testing, the phone can last 7.6 hours of gaming at 165fps or 19 hours of video streaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
