📌 Update, 6 November 2026 — Oppo has confirmed that the Reno 17 series will launch in China this month and has released an official first look at the design. In keeping with the Reno 16, it reveals a back panel with a feline light effect under blue lighting, linked to a possible “Encounter Cat” edition among five rumoured colourways. According to fresh leaks, the standard Reno 17 is tipped to carry a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display, up to 12/512 GB of memory, a battery boosted to 8000 mAh and a 200 MP main sensor backed by two 50 MP modules (ultra-wide and periscope). Finally, certifications suggest a global release in the first quarter of 2027.

Fresh from launching its high-end Find X10 series, Oppo is now actively preparing the Reno 17 line-up, with an official unveiling in China confirmed for this November. Known for the care it puts into the design and camera features of its mid-range phones, Oppo has already started officially teasing the next generation of its Reno range.

According to tipster Smart Pikachu, the Chinese manufacturer is said to be exploring a particularly bold technical move for its upcoming Oppo Reno 17 family: opening up an optical accessory that has so far been strictly reserved for its most prestigious devices.

Is the optical teleconverter coming to the Reno range?

This is the headline claim driving the conversation: Oppo is reportedly studying whether its optical teleconverter could be adapted to the Reno 17 range.

For anyone unfamiliar with the technology, it is a detachable physical optical module that clips directly onto the back of the phone, lined up with the existing telephoto lens. Unlike digital zoom, which artificially crops into the image at the expense of detail, the teleconverter multiplies the native focal length through a set of physical lenses, letting you capture very distant subjects without any loss of sharpness.

The approach was introduced and detailed at the official unveiling of the previous generation, as we explained in our in-depth feature on the Find X9 and X9 Pro. Until now, this kind of premium accessory has been one of the exclusive selling points of flagships priced above €1,000. If Oppo follows through on the Reno 17, it would mark a genuine step up for a family of devices that has traditionally been more affordable.

Rumoured Oppo Reno 17 specs

Several recent leaks have lifted the lid on part of the Oppo Reno 17’s spec sheet, even as the teleconverter’s inclusion remains up in the air. While the brand has already published an official first look at the design and confirmed a November release, the detailed specifications still rest on leaks:
