While this autumn’s news is still dominated by the Magic series announcements, the manufacturer’s research and development teams are already hard at work on the next generation of its numbered range. Set to refresh the heart of its accessible high-end line-up, the future Honor 700 family is starting to make waves in Asian industry circles. The series should include at least two models, the Honor 700 and the Honor 700 Pro, and possibly a third, an Honor 700 Lite, just as the previous generation did with the Honor 600 Lite.
Everything suggests that the Honor 700 Pro is the subject of the first technical leaks. Well-known tipster Digital Chat Station lifted the lid on Weibo on the specifications of a particularly advanced engineering prototype from the numbered range: he does not name the model, but its spec sheet most likely points to the Pro version. Here is what is in store: a front with perfectly symmetrical bezels, a 200-megapixel camera and, above all, a second screen built directly into the back of the device. An ergonomic shift that could well change the way we take photos every day.
A 1.72-inch secondary screen on the back: from accessory to built-in feature
The Honor 700 Pro’s headline innovation undoubtedly lies on its back. According to the details shared by Digital Chat Station, the phone would carry a built-in 1.72-inch secondary screen.
For the brand, this is not a clean-sheet idea. On the previous Honor 600 generation, the manufacturer had already experimented with a rear display through an external magnetic accessory that clipped onto the back of the phone. This small removable unit let you frame your selfies live while using the full power of the main camera block. With the Honor 700 Pro, the experience would take a decisive step forward: the manufacturer would drop the optional accessory and build the panel straight into the back cover.
This approach is part of a strong industry trend seen at other tech giants. Xiaomi brought the concept to a wide audience with the rear display of its 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, before repeating the formula on its Xiaomi 18 Pro series, expected at the end of September. If Honor confirms this direction, the Honor 700 Pro would bring the technology to a more competitive price segment.
One major question remains: where exactly will this 1.72-inch panel sit? The leaks have not yet settled its exact placement. Two design options are currently being considered:
- Inside the camera block: the second screen would slot directly into the rear camera island, creating a clean, coherent whole that makes framing easier.
- On the lower part of the back: placed further down the cover, the display would be easier to read when the phone lies flat on a table, doubling as an interactive notification panel.
A flat 6.57-inch 1.5K display: the pursuit of perfect symmetry
On the front, the Honor 700 Pro would favour geometric rigour and ease of handling. The prototype is credited with a completely flat 6.57-inch OLED panel with 1.5K resolution.
This mid-sized format is an ideal compromise: it offers a comfortable viewing area for media while avoiding the bulk of the giant formats that flirt with 6.9 inches. But the real feat lies in the bezels: the panel would show ultra-thin, strictly symmetrical borders on all four sides (an equilateral design). This perfect symmetry removes the thicker border often seen at the bottom (the famous chin), offering total visual immersion from the very first glance.
The choice of a flat screen also answers a pressing everyday demand from users: no more stray reflections on the edges, no more accidental touches under the palm, and a remarkably easy fit for a bubble-free tempered glass protector.
A 200 MP main camera: very high-resolution photography
The other technical pillar of the future Honor 700 Pro is its imaging hardware. The Honor 700 Pro is expected to feature a 200-megapixel wide main camera, underlining the series’ photographic ambitions.
This colossal resolution takes on a whole new dimension when paired with the 1.72-inch rear display:
- Selfies with main-camera quality: by watching the live preview on the rear panel, you can use the large 200 MP sensor for your selfies, vlogs or group shots, leaving the front camera for video calls only.
- Better light capture: at night or in dim interiors, pixel binning on the 200 MP sensor gathers far more light than a typical small front camera, eliminating digital noise and washed-out tones.
- Cropping and razor-sharp detail: the extra resolution lets you isolate details or crop deep into a shot with no visible loss of sharpness.
Two or three models for the Honor 700 range
The range should be built around the Honor 700 and the Honor 700 Pro, possibly joined by an Honor 700 Lite, as the 600 generation was with the Honor 600 Lite.
This clear segmentation will let Honor target distinct types of buyers: on one side a balanced, accessible standard model, on the other a resolutely high-tech Pro version. The Pro looks the best placed to receive the 1.72-inch rear screen: such a feature is hard to imagine across the whole range, and it seems unlikely that the standard model will inherit it. Nothing is confirmed yet, and we are following the other side of the series in our article on the Honor 700.

Honor 700 Pro price and availability
At this early stage of development, no official pricing has leaked. Adding a working rear display and a 200-megapixel camera clearly means extra production costs for the manufacturer.
Even so, Honor’s numbered range has always aimed to stay priced below the flagships of the Magic range. The brand should therefore work hard to keep its pricing in check to compete aggressively with the alternatives on the Chinese market.
The brand’s usual refresh schedule points to an official unveiling of the Honor 700 series in China around November or December 2026.
This end-of-year timing leaves the engineers several weeks to stabilise the production lines and settle the final position of the rear screen on the back. Any global versions for the European market should follow at a later stage.
Conclusion
By combining a flat 6.57-inch 1.5K display with symmetrical bezels, a 200-megapixel main camera and a built-in 1.72-inch rear screen, the Honor 700 Pro is shaping up to be one of the most original and exciting phones of the end of the year.
We will be following the next technical leaks closely to confirm the final layout of the back and the phone’s internal components.
