Xiaomi 18 Pro Max official: price, specs and release date

📌 Updated 25 September 2026 — Xiaomi has confirmed that the 18 Pro Max will launch outside China before the end of the year, a first in three years for a Pro-series Xiaomi. Its international version may, however, make do with a 7,050 mAh battery, according to Xiaomi’s system code. Official since 23 September, it is already on sale in China. It starts at CNY 6,999, roughly €910. It is the world’s first phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the most powerful of Qualcomm’s new chips. It combines a 6.9-inch display, two 200 MP Leica cameras, an 8,500 mAh battery, 100 W wired and 50 W wireless charging, three speakers and a 2.9-inch rear screen. It is IP68 rated, down to 6 metres.

Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max and the Xiaomi 18 Pro in Beijing on 23 September. The Pro Max tops the series: the same camera block as its smaller sibling, but a bigger display, a bigger battery, a more powerful chip and fuller sound. It succeeds the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.

A 6.9-inch display that shields itself from prying eyes

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max gets a flat 6.9-inch AMOLED display at 2,624 × 1,208 pixels, framed by 0.99 mm bezels, identical on all four sides. It is the series’ Super Pixel 2.0 panel, with the new M11 generation of light-emitting materials: a new green material that improves efficiency by 20%, a full red, green and blue subpixel layout, up to 4,000 nits in some conditions, 1 nit at minimum, a 1 to 120 Hz refresh rate and the BT.2020 colour space. It is protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0.

Like the 18 Pro, the Pro Max has a hardware privacy mode: when on, it hides the screen from people beside you while keeping a sharp image head-on. It can be reserved for specific apps, right down to their notifications, given rules by voice through the Super Xiao AI assistant, or switched on for the whole phone with one press of a customisable AI key.

The question over the rear screen is settled: the Pro Max does have one, and it is even bigger than the 18 Pro’s. It measures 2.9 inches, at 976 × 596 pixels, 120 Hz and up to 4,000 nits. It hosts more than 100 app cards at launch, from tools to mini-games, AI-generated wallpapers made from a photo, and lets you take selfies with the main camera.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max debuts the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the most powerful version of Qualcomm’s new chip, built on 2 nm with two prime cores at 5 GHz. The CPU is the same as the 18 Pro’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6; the Extreme stands apart through its graphics, its AI-dedicated cores and its video. Xiaomi pairs it with a new cooling system and chip packaging designed to shed heat better. In its own tests, on a large open-world game at maximum settings, the Pro Max holds close to 60 frames per second on average for an hour, with a peak temperature of 43.6 °C. RAM is LPDDR5X, 12 or 16 GB, and storage is UFS 4.1, from 256 GB to 1 TB.

The Pro Max’s Leica camera block covers focal lengths from 17 to 75 mm, with three lenses:

• 200 MP main camera: a 1/1.28-inch sensor, the Light Hunter 960L, with LOFIC technology. It lets each pixel absorb excess light without saturating, keeping detail in a sunlit sky while lifting the shadows. The Leica Summilux lens opens at f/1.67, 23 mm, with optical stabilisation.
• 200 MP periscope telephoto: a 1/1.56-inch sensor, opening at f/2.4, with a 3.2x optical zoom (75 mm), optical stabilisation and macro from 12 cm. Xiaomi says it captures 83% more light than the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max’s.
• 50 MP ultra-wide: f/2.4, 17 mm, a 102° field of view and macro from 5 cm.

At the front, a 50 MP camera records 4K at 60 frames per second. At the back, video goes up to 8K at 30 frames per second and 4K at 120 frames per second, in Dolby Vision. Xiaomi adds an AI mode called “Legendary Moment”, which gives photos the look of three classic cameras, and an assistant that suggests framing, filters and poses.

8,500 mAh, 100 W charging and three speakers

The Pro Max packs an 8,500 mAh battery (8,350 mAh rated), a thousand more than the 17 Pro Max. Its anode contains 32% silicon, and Xiaomi says it keeps at least 80% of its capacity after 2,000 charge cycles. Charging reaches 100 W wired and 50 W wireless, and the phone can charge another device, at up to 27 W by cable, or wirelessly. Sound moves to three speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The rest of the sheet: an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, a USB-C 3.2 port, NFC, an infrared blaster, a UWB chip for digital car keys, an upgraded vibration motor, IP68 water resistance down to 6 metres for 30 minutes, and Xiaomi HyperOS 4.

Xiaomi opened sales in China as soon as its event ended. The euro conversion is indicative, at the current exchange rate and before import taxes:

• 12 GB + 256 GB: CNY 6,999, roughly €910
• 12 GB + 512 GB: CNY 7,999, roughly €1,040
• 16 GB + 512 GB: CNY 8,999, roughly €1,170
• 16 GB + 1 TB: CNY 9,999, roughly €1,300

It therefore costs CNY 1,000 more than the 18 Pro for the same memory. It comes in black, white, pink and blue, plus a transparent edition sold only as 16 GB + 1 TB, at CNY 10,999 (roughly €1,430). Xiaomi confirmed on 23 September that the 18 Pro series will launch internationally before the end of the year, whereas the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max stayed limited to the Chinese market last year. The date, the countries and the prices outside China have not been announced yet.

One caveat matters if you are waiting for that global version: according to HyperOS system code, the international Xiaomi 18 Pro Max (model 2611FPNFAG) would carry a 7,050 mAh battery, against 8,500 mAh in China, around 17% less. Wired charging would stay around 90 to 100 W. Xiaomi has not confirmed it, and these figures may still change before release.

Conclusion

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is the brand’s most complete phone this year: Qualcomm’s most powerful chip, a high-dynamic-range 200 MP main camera, an 8,500 mAh battery, three speakers and a larger rear screen. Against the 18 Pro, which shares its camera block, it will be chosen for its big display, its battery life and its gaming performance, at the cost of 32 extra grams.
