📌 Updated 28 September 2026 — The Honor Magic 9 Pro Max is official, and on sale in China since the day of its launch. It starts at CNY 6,499, roughly €845. It is one of the first phones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. It combines a 6.8-inch 10,000-nit display, two 200 MP ARRI cameras stabilised to CIPA 8.0, an 8,800 mAh battery, 100 W wired and 80 W wireless charging, and 3D face recognition. It is rated IP68, IP69 and IP69K.

For the first time, Honor’s Magic series is topped by a “Pro Max” model. Unveiled on 28 September in Beijing alongside the Magic 9 and the Magic 9 Super Edition, it brings together everything the brand knows how to do: Qualcomm’s most powerful chip, the biggest battery in the range on a camera-focused model, and a camera developed with ARRI, the German maker of cinema cameras. There is no Magic 9 Pro: the Pro Max is the only model above the Magic 9.
A metal unibody and a “director’s eye” camera block
The Magic 9 Pro Max is carved from a metal unibody, a single piece rather than a frame sandwiched between two panels. On the back, Honor drops the large central disc of the previous generation for a rounded square plate at the top, which it calls the “director’s eye”: a large metal-ringed circle holds both 200 MP sensors, next to two stacked lenses.
It measures 161.64 × 76.98 × 8.59 mm and weighs 233 g. It is a big phone, but it stays under 9 mm thick despite its 8,800 mAh. Three colours are offered: silver, moss green and shadow black.
A 6.8-inch “Black Diamond” display: 10,000 nits and 1.5% reflectance
The 6.8-inch OLED panel shows 1,320 × 2,868 pixels (464 ppi) and varies from 1 to 120 Hz depending on what is on screen, which saves battery on a static page. Honor calls it “Black Diamond” and makes it the most refined display in the range:
- 10,000 nits peak and 2,000 nits full screen, to stay readable in bright sunlight;
- 1.5% reflectance, the lowest in the industry according to Honor: fewer reflections, so less need to push the brightness;
- a surface reinforced with 5,600 layers of silicon nitride, fifteen times more scratch-resistant and twenty-five times more drop-resistant according to the brand;
- 4,320 Hz PWM dimming and circularly polarised light, to limit flicker and eye strain. The display is Dolby Vision and HDR Vivid certified.
Dual 200 MP ARRI: CIPA 8.0 stabilisation and an in-house imaging chip
The heart of the Magic 9 Pro Max is its camera, developed with ARRI. Honor describes it as the only phone pairing two 200 MP sensors with two processing chips:
- 200 MP main camera: large 1/1.28-inch sensor, f/1.57 aperture, “gimbal-style” stabilisation able to compensate up to 3 degrees, rated CIPA 8.0.
- 200 MP periscope telephoto: 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture, also stabilised to CIPA 8.0, 3.5x optical zoom and up to 200x digital. Honor nicknames it “super night”: a telephoto sensor this large is rare, and it is designed to keep detail after dark.
- 50 MP ultra-wide: f/2.0 aperture, with autofocus.
- 55 MP front camera: f/2.0 aperture, 92° field of view, paired with a 3D camera for face recognition. It films in 4K, including in square format.
A CIPA 8.0 rating means the stabilisation lets you shoot handheld at a shutter speed eight stops slower than without it: the difference between a sharp night shot and a blurry one. Honor adds a matrix zoom flash, laser autofocus and its own imaging chip, the H1, which backs up the processor for heavy processing. On video, the phone shoots 4K at up to 120 fps and offers ARRI modes and looks, arriving through an update.
Honor is also launching a new accessory: the G500 extender, a 500 mm lens that attaches in front of the telephoto to reach very distant subjects, presented as a first. A full video kit comes with it (grip, remote, cage, cooler, filter mounts), and a photographer bundle sells for CNY 10,999. A pocket-sized 200 mm extender weighing 88 g joins it. The extenders are not included with the phone.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6: 5.01 GHz and Adreno 850
The Magic 9 Pro Max is among the first phones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the most powerful version of Qualcomm’s new 2 nm chip. Honor’s spec sheet details its layout: two prime cores at 5.01 GHz, three at 4.03 GHz and three at 3.74 GHz, with an Adreno 850 GPU backed by 18 MB of dedicated memory. It is paired with LPDDR5X memory.
Before its launch, it appeared on AnTuTu with 5,524,187 points, a higher score than the OnePlus 16 (5,384,433 points), which uses the same chip.
An 8,800 mAh battery, 100 W wired and 80 W wireless
The 8,800 mAh battery (8,600 mAh rated) is Honor’s first “Qinghai Lake” blade battery in a conventional phone. Its density reaches 1,000 Wh/L thanks to 40% silicon in the anode, which is how it fits into 8.59 mm.
- 100 W wired, with the charger included in the box;
- 80 W wireless, and 50 W on a wireless car mount;
- 27 W wired reverse charging, plus wireless reverse charging for earbuds or a watch.
Dual 3D biometrics, IP69K and Wi-Fi 8
- 3D face recognition and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the display: Honor is the only one to combine both, so you can unlock in the dark as well as with wet fingers.
- IP68, IP69 and IP69K: immersion, high-pressure hot water jets, and the IP69K standard, the most demanding against dust and high-pressure cleaning.
- Wi-Fi 8 (enabled by an update), Bluetooth 6.3, a USB-C 3.2 port with video output, Honor’s C3 radio chip, and up to four lines thanks to two SIM cards and two eSIMs.
- Stereo speakers, four microphones, an X-axis vibration motor and an infrared blaster to control your TV.
- MagicOS 11, based on Android 17, with the YOYO assistant and AI agents able to chain actions together.

Honor Magic 9 Pro Max price and availability
The Magic 9 Pro Max has been on sale in China since 28 September, right after the event. The euro conversion is indicative, at the current exchange rate and before import taxes:
- 12 GB + 256 GB: CNY 6,499 (roughly €845)
- 12 GB + 512 GB: CNY 6,999 (roughly €910)
- 16 GB + 512 GB: CNY 7,499 (roughly €975)

European launch in January 2027 and head-to-head with Samsung
Shortly after its debut in China, Honor is preparing the international rollout of its new flagship line-up. The brand’s British and French divisions now display an official launch window: the Magic 9 series will arrive in Europe as early as January 2027. While the manufacturer has not yet revealed an exact date or announced European pricing, it is already allowing UK users to register their interest online.
Across its European platforms, Honor is highlighting the Magic 9 Pro Max in particular, whilst also referencing the wider range. This suggests the arrival of at least a second model in Europe, most likely the standard Magic 9. For the European market, Honor confirms that the Magic 9 Pro Max will be offered in its three finishes (shadow black, moss green, and silver), but is restricting memory configurations: only variants featuring 12 GB of RAM paired with 256 GB or 512 GB of storage will be marketed, skipping the 16 GB and 1 TB versions available on the Chinese market.
This launch schedule looks set to be strategic. By scheduling the arrival of the Magic 9 Pro Max for January 2027, Honor will go head-to-head with Samsung, whose upcoming Galaxy S27 series is expected between January and February 2027. This direct clash of high-end flagships promises to open 2027 with an intense commercial battle for the European premium segment.
Magic 9, Super Edition or Pro Max: which one to choose?
- The Honor Magic 9: the compact of the series, 6.37 inches and 209 g, also with two 200 MP ARRI cameras, but last year’s chip. From CNY 4,999.

The Honor Magic 9 Pro Max delivers what the range promised: Qualcomm’s fastest chip, a dual 200 MP camera designed with ARRI, one of the brightest displays on the market and 8,800 mAh in under 9 mm.
