📌 Updated 28 September 2026 — The Honor Magic 9 is official, and on sale in China since the day of its launch. It starts at CNY 4,999, roughly €650. Into a compact 6.37-inch, 209 g body it packs two 200 MP ARRI cameras, an 8,000 mAh battery, 80 W wired and 50 W wireless charging, and a 10,000-nit display. It sticks with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and is rated IP68, IP69 and IP69K.

Unveiled on 28 September in Beijing, the Honor Magic 9 is the compact model of the new series, alongside the Magic 9 Pro Max and the Magic 9 Super Edition. Honor did not release a Magic 9 Pro. Its standout trait is rare in a range: the entry model keeps the flagship camera, with two ARRI-branded 200 MP sensors, in a phone that fits in your hand.
A compact format: 6.37 inches and 209 g
The Magic 9 measures 151.00 × 72.28 × 8.49 mm and weighs 209 g. It is one of the few 2026 flagships under 6.4 inches, and it does not sacrifice battery life to get there. On the back, a large circular island offset to the top-left corner carries the ARRI logo. Four colours are offered: yellow, white, black and olive green.
The 6.37-inch OLED display shows 1,236 × 2,664 pixels (460 ppi) and reaches 120 Hz. It hits 10,000 nits peak and 2,000 nits full screen, and its 3,840 Hz PWM dimming limits flicker at low brightness. It is flat, with slightly softened 2.5D glass edges, and Dolby Vision and HDR Vivid certified. Unlike the Pro Max, it does not drop to 1 Hz: its refresh rate steps between 60, 90 and 120 Hz.
Two 200 MP ARRI cameras on the compact model
The Magic 9 carries the same 200 MP pair as the Pro Max, with a smaller main sensor:
- 200 MP main camera: 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/1.9 aperture, optical stabilisation.
- 200 MP periscope telephoto: f/2.6 aperture, optical stabilisation, 3.5x optical zoom and up to 120x digital.
- 50 MP ultra-wide: f/2.0 aperture.
- 55 MP square front camera: f/2.0 aperture, 92° field of view. A square sensor covers both portrait and landscape framing without turning the phone; it films in 4K, including 3,840 × 3,840.
The ARRI partnership brings the German manufacturer’s cinema modes and looks, including LogC3 recording for colour grading, arriving through an update. The phone films in 4K at up to 120 fps and offers a 2.39:1 widescreen format, the cinema one. Honor is also launching a thumb-sized 200 mm extender weighing 88 g, which attaches in front of the telephoto.
On 22 September, Honor published its first official sample photos taken with the Magic 9. Those showcasing the telephoto are shot at 80 mm, f/2.6, up to ISO 2,500 at night.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5: last year’s chip, a segmentation choice
The Magic 9 keeps the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, last year’s flagship chip: two cores at 4.6 GHz and six at 3.62 GHz, with an Adreno 840 GPU. Honor reserves the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 for the Pro Max. It is a segmentation choice, not a weakness: this chip powers today’s Honor Magic 8 Pro and remains top tier. It is paired with LPDDR5X memory.
8,000 mAh, 80 W wired and 50 W wireless
The 8,000 mAh battery (7,820 mAh rated) is exceptional for a phone this size. It charges at 80 W by cable, with the charger included, and at 50 W wirelessly. The Magic 9 can also charge another device, at 27 W by cable or wirelessly.
Features: IP69K, ultrasonic fingerprint and an AI key
- IP68, IP69 and IP69K: the most complete water and dust protection, high-pressure hot water jets included.
- Ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the display, which works with wet fingers. 3D face recognition is reserved for the Pro Max.
- A dedicated AI key: one press saves the screen, two presses a video, a long press an idea; it also files appointments and pickup codes.
- Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, Honor’s C3 radio chip, stereo speakers, three microphones and an infrared blaster.
- MagicOS 11, based on Android 17, with AI agents able to chain actions together.

Honor Magic 9 price and availability
The Magic 9 has been on sale in China since 28 September, right after the event. The euro conversion is indicative, at the current exchange rate and before import taxes:
- 12 GB + 256 GB: CNY 4,999 (roughly €650)
- 12 GB + 512 GB: CNY 5,499 (roughly €715)
- 16 GB + 512 GB: CNY 5,999 (roughly €780)
- 16 GB + 1 TB: CNY 6,999 (roughly €910)
In China, the state subsidy takes CNY 500 off versions sold under CNY 6,000. Honor has not yet detailed the international release. The previous generation, the Honor Magic 8 Pro, is available in its global version in our store.
Magic 9, Super Edition or Pro Max: which one to choose?
- The Magic 9: for those who want a compact phone without giving up the dual 200 MP ARRI camera or 8,000 mAh.
- The Magic 9 Super Edition: cheaper, bigger and longer-lasting with 11,000 mAh, but without ARRI and with a more modest camera.
- The Magic 9 Pro Max: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, a larger main sensor, 80 W wireless charging and 3D face recognition, from CNY 6,499.
Conclusion
The Honor Magic 9 pulls off what few manufacturers attempt: two 200 MP cameras and 8,000 mAh in a 6.37-inch, 209 g phone, protected up to IP69K. Last year’s chip is the only real compromise, and it remains among the fastest on the market.
