Xiaomi 18 Pro official: price, specs and release date

📌 Updated 25 September 2026 — Xiaomi has confirmed that the 18 Pro will launch outside China before the end of the year, a first in three years for a Pro-series Xiaomi. Its international version may, however, make do with a 6,000 mAh battery, according to Xiaomi’s system code. Official since 23 September, it is already on sale in China. It starts at CNY 5,999, roughly €780. It is the world’s first phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. Into a 6.4-inch, 203 g body it packs two 200 MP Leica cameras, a 7,000 mAh battery, 100 W wired and 50 W wireless charging, and a 2.7-inch rear screen. It is IP68 rated.

Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Pro and the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in Beijing on 23 September, the first two models in its new series. The 18 Pro is the more compact of the two, and it sums up this generation’s ambition best: fitting a very large phone’s hardware into a device that still slips easily into a pocket. The standard Xiaomi 18 was not part of the launch.

A 6.4-inch display that shields itself from prying eyes

The Xiaomi 18 Pro gets a flat 6.4-inch AMOLED display at 2,436 × 1,120 pixels, framed by 0.99 mm bezels, identical on all four sides. Xiaomi calls it Super Pixel 2.0: it relies on a new generation of light-emitting materials, called M11, with a new green material that improves efficiency by 20% and a full red, green and blue subpixel layout. Brightness reaches up to 4,000 nits in some conditions and goes down to 1 nit, the refresh rate scales from 1 to 120 Hz, and the panel covers the BT.2020 colour space. It is protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0.

Its most visible novelty is a hardware privacy mode. When switched on, it sharply limits what someone next to you can see, on public transport for instance, while keeping a sharp image for whoever holds the phone; when off, the display gets its normal viewing angles back. It can be reserved for specific apps, such as a banking or messaging app, right down to their notifications and floating windows, given rules by voice through the Super Xiao AI assistant, or switched on for the whole phone with one press of a customisable AI key.

The rear screen becomes a real second display

On the back, the Leica camera module houses a 2.7-inch rear screen at 912 × 596 pixels, 120 Hz and up to 4,000 nits. It was already on the Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi shared the figures that justify keeping it: nearly 4 million people use it every day, adding hundreds of millions of wallpapers every month.

This year it gains a proper catalogue: more than 100 app cards at launch, from small tools to mini-games, and the option of having artificial intelligence create new ones. AI also generates wallpapers from a photo, such as one of your case to match it, or of a pet. That is the “generating…” shown on Xiaomi’s first teaser, on 15 September. Finally, the rear screen lets you take selfies with the main camera while seeing yourself.

The world’s first phone with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6

The Xiaomi 18 Pro debuts the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, Qualcomm’s new 2 nm chip, whose two prime cores reach 5 GHz. This is the standard version: the 18 Pro Max gets the Extreme Gen 6. Xiaomi claims a GPU that is 35% faster and 40% more efficient than the previous generation, along with a new cooling system. In its own tests, on a large open-world game at maximum settings, the 18 Pro holds close to 60 frames per second on average for an hour, without going above 42.3 °C. RAM is LPDDR5X, 12 or 16 GB, and storage is UFS 4.1, from 256 GB to 1 TB.

The Leica camera block brings together three lenses covering focal lengths from 17 to 75 mm:

• 200 MP main camera: a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, the Light Hunter 960, behind a Leica Summilux lens opening at f/1.67, 23 mm, with optical stabilisation. In low light, it combines sixteen pixels into one for cleaner photos.
• 200 MP periscope telephoto: a 1/1.56-inch sensor, very large for a telephoto, opening at f/2.4, with a 3.2x optical zoom (75 mm), optical stabilisation and focusing from 12 cm for macro. Xiaomi says it captures 280% more light than the Xiaomi 17 Pro’s.
• 50 MP ultra-wide: f/2.4, 17 mm, a 102° field of view and macro from 5 cm.

At the front, a 50 MP camera records 4K at 60 frames per second. At the back, video goes up to 8K at 30 frames per second and 4K at 120 frames per second, in Dolby Vision. Xiaomi adds two AI features: a mode called “Legendary Moment”, which gives photos the look of three classic cameras, either on the phone or through online processing, and a shooting assistant that suggests framing, filters and even poses.

7,000 mAh, 100 W charging and 50 W wireless

Despite its size, the Xiaomi 18 Pro packs a 7,000 mAh battery (6,860 mAh rated). Its anode contains 32% silicon, a high ratio that lets such a capacity fit into an 8.46 mm phone. Charging reaches 100 W wired and 50 W wireless, and the phone can charge another device, at up to 27 W by cable, or wirelessly.

The rest of the sheet is that of a top-end phone: an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, a USB-C 3.2 port, NFC, an infrared blaster, a UWB chip for digital car keys, stereo dual speakers, an upgraded vibration motor, IP68 water resistance and Xiaomi HyperOS 4.

Xiaomi opened sales in China as soon as its event ended. The euro conversion is indicative, at the current exchange rate and before import taxes:

• 12 GB + 256 GB: CNY 5,999, roughly €780
• 12 GB + 512 GB: CNY 6,999, roughly €910
• 16 GB + 512 GB: CNY 7,999, roughly €1,040
• 16 GB + 1 TB: CNY 8,999, roughly €1,170

It comes in black, white, pink and blue, plus a transparent edition sold only as 16 GB + 1 TB, at CNY 9,999 (roughly €1,300). Xiaomi confirmed on 23 September that the 18 Pro series will launch internationally before the end of the year, whereas the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max stayed limited to the Chinese market last year. The date, the countries and the prices outside China have not been announced yet.

One caveat matters if you are waiting for that global version: according to HyperOS system code, the international Xiaomi 18 Pro (model 2609BPN61G) would carry a 6,000 mAh battery, against 7,000 mAh in China, around 14% less. Wired charging would stay around 90 to 100 W. Xiaomi has not confirmed it, and these figures may still change before release.

Conclusion

The Xiaomi 18 Pro delivers on its promises: in a 6.4-inch, 203 g phone, it brings together two 200 MP Leica cameras, a 7,000 mAh battery, 100 W charging and a rear screen that has become genuinely useful. Its chip is the standard version of the new Snapdragon, which will not show day to day, and its privacy display is a real novelty for anyone who checks their phone on public transport.
