Xiaomi 18 and 18 Pro: Compact Format, 2nm Chip and Dual 200 MP Sensors

The rumour mill is picking up around the next wave of flagships expected in September. A fresh leak from Digital Chat Station gives us a detailed look at what the Xiaomi 18 series has in store, and the brand seems determined to refine its formula in the compact-yet-powerful segment.

A compact format with slimmer bezels

The manufacturer is sticking with compact dimensions. The leak points to a flat display of roughly 6.3 inches, a size that should logically land on the standard Xiaomi 18, in keeping with what the Xiaomi 17 already offered.

The novelty is said to lie in the use of LIPO encapsulation technology. It reportedly delivers ultra-thin symmetrical bezels, maximising screen area without increasing the phone’s overall footprint.

7,000 mAh battery and 2nm chip

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 18 range is expected to be driven by the next-generation flagship chip built on a 2nm process, in all likelihood the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

On the battery front, the leak mentions a capacity starting with a “7”. Xiaomi would therefore keep a generous cell in the 7,000 mAh class within this compact format, with improvements and optimisations over the previous generation.

The Pro stands out with two 200 MP sensors

While the initial leak left some doubt as to exactly which model was being tested, the camera section helps sort things out.

The phone is tipped to carry two 200-megapixel cameras on the back, backed by large image sensors. That heavyweight setup is said to belong to the Xiaomi 18 Pro. As a reminder, earlier reports suggested the standard model would stick to a single 200-megapixel periscope telephoto.
